Prayer for the Evangelization of Culture
O Holy Spirit, our Advocate and guide,
help us open doors to Christ's saving power,
which alone is the source of hope for humanity
and the renewal of society.
Fill us with courage to respond boldly
to the call of John Paul to evangelize the culture.
Enable us by Your grace to live our faith in the public square,
so that we may promote a civilization of love and a culture of life, and
may secure justice for every human person at every stage and condition of life.

We ask this through the intercession of Our Lady of Guadalupe,
and Venerable John Paul II.
Amen.
Mary, Star of the New Evangelization
Holy Mary, star of the new evangelization,
make us the light of the world.
We receive Christ in the Eucharist;
help us build the Kingdom in the world.
Teach us whatever He tells us.
May our study of His life lead us to love Him,
and our love for Him lead us to imitate Him.
If we are what we should be,
we will set the world ablaze and affect the culture.

About Mary, the Star of the New Evangelization With the passage of time, pastors and faithful alike have grown increasingly conscious of the role of the Virgin Mary in the evangelization of America. In the prayer composed for the Special Assembly for America of the Synod of Bishops, Holy Mary of Guadalupe is invoked as Patroness of all America and Star of the first and new evangelization . . . It is my heartfelt hope that she, whose intercession was responsible for strengthening the faith of the first disciples (cf. Jn 2:11), will by her maternal intercession guide the Church in America, obtaining the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, as she once did for the early Church (cf. Acts 1:14), so that the new evangelization may yield a splendid flowering of Christian life. Pope John Paul II |
We ask your intercession to make this so,
through Christ, our Lord.
Come Holy Spirit, and fill the hearts of your faithful,
and kindle in them the fire of Your Divine Love.
Send forth Your Spirit and they shall be created,
and You shall renew the face of the earth.
Oh God, Who by the light of the Holy Spirit instructed the hearts of the faithful,
Grant that, by the same Spirit,
we may be truly wise and ever rejoice in His consolation.
